Nafei Overnight Gala Pants: Bulk Orders Now Available
2024-08-08
A distributor emailed me last month asking for "the best price" on 50,000 overnight pants — before he'd touched a single pair. I told him to slow down. Bulk only pays off after you've confirmed the product actually survives a real night, not a showroom demo. Here's how we run bulk orders for our overnight (Gala) period pants, and what I'd watch if I were buying.
Bulk isn't a discount button. It's a commitment to a spec, a pack, and a timeline — and most of the cost is decided before the price is quoted.
Start with a sample, not a PO
I'll say it plainly: skip the sample and you're gambling. An overnight pant that looks fine on the line can leak at hour six, or the waistband rolls the moment someone sleeps on their side. We send physical samples before any bulk commitment, and I'd walk away from any supplier who won't. If you're weighing options, start with our OEM/ODM process and ask for a sleep-test sample, not a catalogue photo.
What "MOQ" really means here
MOQ is the smallest run that covers setup — material slitting, print plates, and the line changeover. Below it, the per-unit math breaks. For a standard retail pack the floor is usually higher than people expect; plain bulk cartons without custom print sit lower because there's no plate or film cost.
Typical industry starting points: a custom-printed 10-piece retail pack often begins around a container-load equivalent, roughly 200k–400k pieces depending on pack size. Plain distributor cartons can start lower. These are ranges, not our quote — your actual number depends on spec, and our team will give you the tier once we know the pack.
What actually moves the bulk price
| Lever | What it does to unit cost |
|---|---|
| Confirmed volume | Setup spreads over more units. This is the biggest lever — a steady repeat order beats a one-off custom run every time. |
| SAP tier | Higher-grade superabsorbent raises cost but holds more without bulking. Cheap SAP is where "leaks by morning" comes from. |
| Backsheet | Breathable film costs more than PE, and buyers notice the difference in hot climates. |
| Pack print | Custom printed film and cartons add plate and MOQ; plain bulk is cheaper but won't sit on a retail shelf. |
| Size grid | More sizes mean more changeovers. A tight 3-size grid is cheaper than a 6-size spread. |
Lead time is where bulk bites
A bulk run isn't "make and ship." Add material lead time, print, and QC hold, and a first order easily runs longer than a buyer plans for. Tight timelines don't get cheaper — they get riskier, because someone skips the absorbency check. Build the calendar with the factory, don't impose one.
How to actually start a bulk order
- Tell us the pack format, target volume, and market (climate matters for backsheet choice).
- We send samples and a tiered quote at your volumes — product, packaging, and freight broken out separately, not a single mystery number.
- You confirm spec and artwork; we run a pre-production sample for sign-off.
- Bulk production and QC, then shipment. You get the test data, not just the cartons.
If you're comparing suppliers, our comfort pants line shows the specs we hold as standard — useful as a benchmark even if you don't buy from us.
Questions buyers actually ask
What's the minimum for a bulk overnight-pants order?
It depends on pack format and print. Custom retail packs need a higher floor than plain bulk cartons; confirm the exact MOQ with the supplier once you've fixed the spec.
Do bulk orders get a lower unit price?
Yes, volume is the main lever — setup cost spreads over more units. A repeating order at steady volume prices better than a one-off custom run.
Can I get samples before committing to bulk?
You should, and we send them. A physical sleep-test sample tells you more than any quote sheet. Don't place a bulk PO without one.
What's included in the quote?
Product, packaging, and freight as separate lines. A single bundled number hides where the cost — and the shortcut — is.
