Chinese Nafei OEM custom ODM processing manufacturers
2024-07-17
"OEM," "ODM," and "private label" get used like they mean the same thing. They don't, and the difference decides how much work lands on your desk. Here's what Nafei actually does as a Changsha-based processor — and where the line between "we build it" and "you spec it" really sits.
I've watched buyers burn a season because they assumed "ODM" meant "the factory thinks for me." It doesn't. Below is the plain version.
OEM vs ODM vs private label — in plain terms
| Model | You bring | We bring | Who owns the spec |
|---|---|---|---|
| OEM | Product spec, materials list, pack artwork | The line, the conversion, the QC | You |
| ODM | Market + target price + a few constraints | Existing product platform, tuned to your brief | Shared |
| Private label | A brand name and a launch date | A proven SKU, re-skinned pack | Mostly us |
What "in-house" means here, specifically
A lot of suppliers in this category are trading desks. They order the topsheet from A, the SAP core from B, the backsheet from C, and glue them at a rented conversion line. When a leak complaint hits, nobody owns it.
At Nafei the topsheet, the core-forming, and the conversion run inside the Changsha plant. That's why our sanitary napkin range can be spec'd end to end instead of "whatever the sub-supplier sent this month." It also means a spec change doesn't wait on three vendors' moods.
The ODM trap buyers fall into
ODM is sold as "we design it, you sell it." The catch: a good ODM partner still needs your market constraints — absorbency target, local regulation, pack language, the climate your users live in. Hand over a vague brief and you get a generic pad with your logo on it. Hand over real constraints and you get a product that fits.
If you're not sure what your market needs yet, start with the buyer guides and bring us a rough brief. We'd rather tune from a real constraint than guess.
MOQ reality, not the brochure number
Brochures say "low MOQ." Reality: MOQ follows the spec. A custom core and a custom pack need a longer run to amortize the changeover; a private-label re-skin of an existing SKU can start smaller. If someone quotes you a tiny MOQ on a fully custom product with no changeover caveat, ask what they're skipping.
What we won't pretend to do
We're not a certifier, and we won't fake a test report to clear your market. We'll show you the per-SKU GB/T 8939 data with batch numbers and tell you straight when a claim needs a local lab you have to commission. That's the bar we hold, and the one I'd hold any supplier to.
Questions buyers actually ask
Is Nafei a factory or a trading company?
A manufacturer. Topsheet, core, and conversion run in-house in Changsha — not brokered from three vendors.
Can you do pure ODM from a one-line brief?
We can start from a light brief, but the better the market constraints you give us, the less generic the result. Vague brief in, generic pad out.
What's the real starting MOQ?
It depends on how custom the spec is. A re-skinned private-label SKU starts smaller; a from-scratch core and pack needs a longer run. Ask per project, not from the brochure.
How do I verify the line exists?
Book a visit or a live video walk of the plant. Our about page has the basics, but the line view is what clears doubt.
