Local Visuals Are Not Local Compliance

Local Visuals Are Not Local Compliance

These three images are market visuals. Each places a pack against a recognisable local setting: a landmark, temple steps and a shrine-like foreground. They were made to explore how a range might look in a specific market. They are not photographs of a shipment, a store or a retail launch.

That distinction matters. A visual can show that a pack design feels at home in a market. It cannot show that the wording on the pack is acceptable there.

The two localisation tracks

One track is visual: colour, imagery and how a pack reads next to local design conventions. The other is informational: language, required fields, claim wording and the way sizes or counts are stated. They are reviewed by different people and approved at different times.

Our team keeps them separate in a project file. A visual approved in week one is not evidence that the printed panel was approved. A printed panel approved in week four still needs a check against the final artwork version.

A second illustrative composition. The setting is a design choice, not a claim about where the product is sold.

Claims do not travel well

A phrase that is ordinary in one market can be a problem in another. Buyers sometimes ask us to carry wording from an existing pack into a new destination. Our foreign trade team rewrites it or asks for a local review before artwork is finalised.

That is also why we avoid absolute performance claims anywhere on a pack. Wording about overnight use is described as a design intention. A claim that suggests a guaranteed outcome is not something we would print, whatever the setting in the image.

What a buyer should take from these images

Use them to settle the visual direction. Then set them aside and work through the label fields with the destination market in mind. Three well-made visuals do not shorten that second step, and they should not be used to suggest that it has been done.
