From Hand-Held Sample to Photo Asset

From Hand-Held Sample to Photo Asset

Four images, one pack, four slightly different hand positions and angles. They were made as presentation visuals. They are also a useful example of a question buyers ask us late in a project: which images can actually go on a retail listing.

A presentation visual and a listing asset are not the same file. One shows a product being held. The other has to show a pack clearly, with readable information, at the size a shopper will see it.

Three checks before an image goes online

First, is the printed information legible at thumbnail size. Second, does the image show the version of the artwork that was actually printed. Third, is there a file for each size and colourway in the range.

The third check catches the most problems. A launch with three variants often arrives with one strong image and two that were never made. Our team asks for the asset list at the same time as the carton mark, not after the container ships.

Why we keep the variants together

A set of four similar frames is more useful than four unrelated shots. A buyer can see whether the colour stays consistent between angles, and whether the same artwork version appears in every file. That is harder to judge from a single hero image.

These visuals are for presentation and discussion. When a listing asset is needed, we go back to the printed pack and produce a clean, readable file. A hand-held frame is good for a conversation about the format. It is not the file a shopper should be reading.
