Tailored Sanitary Napkin OEM/ODM: Private Label Project Guide

2026-06-06

A tailored OEM/ODM project is a sequence, not a purchase. Skip a step and you pay for it later. If you're building a custom sanitary napkin private label, here's the project path that lands on shelf instead of in a warehouse.

Step 1 — the brief (before anything else)

User, use case, flow level, target market, regulation, pack language. A vague brief produces a generic pad with your logo. The brief is the project's spine; everything hangs off it.

Step 2 — materials decision

Topsheet type, SAP grade, backsheet breathability. Name them. A supplier who holds the SAP grade contractually is controlling your quality; one who won't name it is controlling margin.

Step 3 — sample, then approve

Pre-production sample matched to the brief. Wear-test topsheet feel, rewet, wing adhesion. Sign-off here prevents a bulk run of the wrong product. This step is not optional.

Step 4 — packaging proof

Pack itemGet a real proof
Wrapper / purseFeel + open test, not a render
Count + languageMatches market law and tongue
Artwork filmPrinted sample, not a PDF

Step 5 — MOQ and the run plan

MOQ follows the spec. A re-skin starts smaller; a custom core needs a longer run to amortize changeover. Plan the first order to prove the product, then scale on reorders.

Step 6 — QC written into the PO

In-line + AQL + retained sample, plant-run. Write them in so a busy line can't drop them. The QC is what protects the launch.

Step 7 — launch schedule

Build in sample time, print proofing, and a buffer for the first run. Projects that slip usually skipped the sample or proof step, not the factory's speed.

Opinion: the buyers who ship on time are the ones who didn't rush step 3. A sample week saved is a return month lost.

Questions buyers actually ask

How long is a tailored project?

After a real brief: sample days to a couple weeks, then a trial run before bulk. Vague briefs slip because they get reworked mid-way.

Can I change the spec after sampling?

Yes, but it restarts the sample. Lock the brief first; changes are cheaper on paper than on a run.

Does Nafei run this sequence?

Yes — brief to bulk with named inputs and plant-run QC. Start via contact or the OEM page.

What kills the schedule?

Skipping sample approval or pack proofing. Those two steps are where "fast" projects actually save or lose time.
