Back Adhesive Compatibility: Why Sanitary Pads Need Fabric Testing
2026-08-10

Back adhesive looks simple until the pad meets real underwear fabric. Cotton, modal and synthetic fabrics do not behave in the same way, so the buyer should not approve adhesive performance from a single fabric test. A good OEM review checks how the adhesive releases, how it holds and whether the pad stays clean when it is removed.
Test More Than One Fabric
A private label buyer should ask the factory to show the adhesive on at least a few common underwear fabrics. The same pad can feel stable on one fabric and less stable on another. That is why a single test photo is never enough.
Check the Release Path
The back adhesive should hold during wear and release in a controlled way when the pad is removed. The buyer should note whether the adhesive spreads evenly, whether the edges stay neat and whether the release paper matches the intended use.
Watch the Edge Behavior
If the adhesive is too concentrated in one narrow line, the pad may not behave well on a smoother fabric. A wider and more even layout usually gives a better practical result, because the contact area is distributed more gently.
Keep the Test Practical
The goal is not to chase a perfect lab idea. The goal is to see whether the adhesive performs on the fabrics the buyer actually expects in the market. A reusable checklist is better than a one-time opinion.
Record the Approval Version
Once the fabric test is accepted, keep the fabric names, sample date and adhesive note in the approval file. This helps the next batch follow the same decision instead of guessing what was approved the first time.
Buyer Control Table
| Control Point | What to Record | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Fabric type | Cotton, modal or synthetic | Shows real-world behavior |
| Adhesive layout | Width and coverage | Affects hold and release |
| Release paper | Fit and peel behavior | Supports clean removal |
| Approval note | Test date and fabric list | Protects the next order |
OEM Buyer FAQ
Should a buyer trust one photo or one quotation line?
No. A useful OEM decision needs the sample photo, the written specification, the commercial file and the handover record to stay aligned.
Why do small changes matter so much?
A small change in surface, adhesive, pack count, size mix or carton wording can change how the product is quoted, packed and received.
What should stay in the file after approval?
Keep the approved photo, the latest spec, the carton's wording, the sample version, and any buyer comments that explain the final choice.
