Retail Pack Artwork Version Control for Hygiene Product OEM Orders
2026-07-28

Private label artwork moves through buyers, designers, factories and printers. Without a version-control method, an approved-looking file can still carry an old pack count, barcode or market statement. A short approval workflow helps connect the correct artwork to the correct hygiene product specification.
Create One Artwork Register
Assign each retail pack, individual wrapper and master carton a unique file name. The register should show product code, size or length, pack count, language, market, file version, date and approval status. Avoid names such as final, final-new or latest because they become unclear after several revisions.
Separate Design Approval From Technical Approval
Brand teams may approve color, layout and visual hierarchy, while purchasing or quality teams confirm dimensions, barcode data, symbols, legal text and the connection to the product specification. Record both approvals. The factory should also confirm the dieline, sealing area, print direction and practical tolerances before mass printing.
Use a Preproduction Proof
A PDF may show text accurately but cannot fully demonstrate a finished pouch or bag. Review a digital or printed proof first, then request a packed sample when the construction, window, handle, zipper or sealing format makes physical review important. Compare the proof against an approval checklist rather than relying on memory.
Lock Variable Data
Mark variable information such as batch code, production date, barcode, importer details or local labels. State whether the data is preprinted, overprinted or applied by label. Confirm the readable area and keep buyer-supplied content in a controlled source file.
