Size and shape are the most underestimated levers in a private-label pad. Get them right and the pad disappears into the day; get them wrong and every user notices. If you're spec'ing custom sanitary pads, here's the sampling path that avoids a warehouse of misfits.
Length — match it to the flow, not the trend
Day, night, and post-partum lengths exist for a reason. Don't shrink a night pad to chase "compact" unless you've tested the absorbency holds. Length without capacity is just a smaller failure.
Wings — the adhesion is the product
Wing shape is cosmetic; wing adhesion under movement is not. Sample-test the wing on a wear sim — a wing that lifts is a pad that shifts. This is where cheap specs quietly fail.
Core shape — where the SAP sits
The core isn't a rectangle of fluff. Its SAP distribution decides where absorption happens and whether it bunches. A custom core should be spec'd by absorption map, not just "longer."
Absorbency — set the number, then sample to it

Adhesive and wrapper — the quiet specs
Back adhesive that survives a humid climate, and a wrapper that opens one-handed, are real purchase drivers. Sample them in your actual market condition, not a showroom. A wrapper that tears in a humid bathroom is a review-killer.
The sampling sequence
1) Approve a spec with numbers. 2) Get a pre-production sample. 3) Wear-test it against your real use case. 4) Only then approve the bulk. Skipping step 3 is how buyers lock a shape nobody likes.

Can I fully customize the pad shape?
Yes, within conversion limits. Shape, wing, and core map are spec'able; the plant tells you what the line can hold cleanly.
How do I know the size is right?
Set capacity + rewet by use case, sample it, and wear-test against that case. Don't pick length from a trend.
Does a custom shape raise MOQ?
It can — a new cut and changeover need a longer run to amortize. A re-skin of an existing shape starts smaller. Ask per project.
