2024 China(Guangdong)-RCEP Member Countries Cross-Border E-Commerce Exchange Conference and China(Guangzhou)Cross-Border E-Commerce Fair Grandly Opens

On August 16,2024,the opening ceremony of the China(Guangdong)-RCEP Member Countries Cross-Border E-Commerce Exchange Conference and China(Guangzhou)Cross-Border E-Commerce Fair was held grandly in Guangzhou.The ceremony was attended by Zhang Jinsong,Director of Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce,Zhu Shijia,Director of the China Foreign Trade Center,Xie Weiguang,Deputy Secretary-General of Guangzhou Municipal Government,the Consul General of Malaysia,and the Consul of Australia in Guangzhou,who delivered speeches.Representatives from Laos,Malaysia,the Philippines,Thailand,Australia,Vietnam,Cambodia,South Korea,and other RCEP member countries,along with leaders from business departments in various Chinese provinces and cities,and representatives from top domestic and international e-commerce platforms such as Amazon Global Store,SHEIN,Douyin,AliExpress,Alibaba International Station,Walmart Global E-commerce,and others,totaling about 400 participants,attended the event.

Zhang Jinsong highlighted Guangdong's progress in cross-border e-commerce,emphasizing rapid trade growth,improved platform levels,diverse industry ecosystems,and deepening international cooperation.He enthusiastically introduced the fair’s new cross-border logistics and warehousing area and emerging platform zone,and invited more domestic and international e-commerce platforms and companies to establish themselves in Guangdong.

Zhu Shijia noted that the China Foreign Trade Center is committed to supporting national development and industry growth.Since its establishment in 2021,the fair has grown to over 40,000 square meters with more than 1,000 high-quality enterprises participating,and has introduced new sections for emerging platforms and cross-border logistics.He stressed the center’s aim to enhance cooperation,innovate development mechanisms,and facilitate industry upgrades through the fair.

Xie Weiguang pointed out that the fair has become the most extensive and rewarding cross-border e-commerce exhibition in China.Guangzhou,as a central city and international trade hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area,has seen a 136-fold increase in cross-border e-commerce import and export from 2014 to 2023,maintaining the top position in import scale for nine consecutive years.He welcomed investments and further development in Guangzhou.

Amazon Global Store Vice President Qiu Sheng presented a high-quality outbound solution and released the"2024 China Export Cross-Border E-Commerce Development Trend White Paper,"outlining the new stage of"high-quality outbound"for Chinese export e-commerce,with six innovation paths covering product,technology,operations,supply chain,brand,and business models.

SHEIN Vice President Wang Zhiqing shared the company’s unique"small order fast response"model,multi-dimensional empowerment,and"self-owned brand+platform"dual-engine strategy.He highlighted SHEIN’s role in transforming suppliers and expanding the platform to drive Chinese SMEs and brands in cross-border e-commerce.
